“We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal….. endowed with certain unalienable rights, life and [sic] liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”. The obvious omission of the important phrase “by their Creator” after “endowed” speaks volumes to this president’s disdain for America’s founding documents, its traditions, and most importantly its Christian faith. Christianity was paramount to the founding of this great nation. President Obama’s premeditated removal of “the Creator” from his speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute is more ominous then it would seem on its face.
There is a contempt that Barack Obama has for the United States of America and its Christian founding principles. If you look at the omission alone, it shows that President Obama finds the faith of nearly 80% of Americans to be silly or superstitious. While a candidate, Obama declared to a San Francisco liberal crowd, [Pennsylvanians] “get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.” It did not matter whether it was Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Virginia or any other state in the Union that this comment was lobbed at, Obama has a disconnect with Americans and her beliefs and rights that we as Americans hold dear. To Obama, people of faith – if it be Christianity – are reprehensible people. Obama does not like guns or Christianity, two issues covered by the Constitution, in the Bill of Rights.
President Obama had stated in 2007, “[w]hatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation — at least, not just. We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, and a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers.” The exact opposite of what the Founders actually intended. Obama claimed at a news conference in Turkey on April 6, 2009 “[Americans] do not consider ourselves a Christian nation, or a Muslim nation, but rather, a nation of citizens who are, uh, bound by a set of values.” And where do those values stem from? Our Founders based this country and its values on Christian ideals. The laws in this country were based on the Common Law, which was Biblically based. Will Obama and his czars or non-elected progressive regulatory people now decide our values and our fates? Or pushing legislation to the courts rather than the Congress. I imagine that is the case as more and more issues that are not successful at the ballot box are now brought before courts, where all one must be able to do is count to five, as Jay Sekulow of the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ, www.aclj.org) often states. All that is required are 5 Supreme Court justices, or even via lesser federal courts, to agree with an argument to throw aside the will of the People and make law from the bench, specifically what the Founders did not want to occur.
By removing “Creator” from the Declaration of Independence, the government can and will claim, as we have recently witnessed, that they are the providers of “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” (emphasis applied). As such, they can not only give those very fundamental God-given rights at will, they can take them away (emphasis applied). If that seems far-fetched, somebody please point out in the Constitution where abortion is declared a right. Or maybe “separation of church and state” can be found somewhere in the Constitution. But I don not think that it will be found, because it does not exist.
According to the writings of the Founding Fathers this is a Christian nation. If the Founders sadly do not hold weight anymore, the Supreme Court of the United States held “this is a Christian nation” in the Church of the Holy Trinity v. United States, 143 U.S. 437 (1892). The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, known by the Founders in the Declaration of Independence as the “Creator” is not held in any regard by Obama as it is a Christian or Judeo-Christian belief. However, in Obama’s eyes, Islam is held in highest regard.
The “highest priority” that President Obama gave to incoming NASA administrator Charles Bolden was “to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science … and math and engineering.” President Obama, during Apology Tour 2009 told French television station Canal Plus, “If you actually took the number of Muslims Americans (sic), we’d be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.” Obama went further to state “Now, the flip side is I think that the United States and the West generally, we have to educate ourselves more effectively on Islam.” Additionally, Obama stated while in Turkey, “We will convey our deep appreciation for the Islamic faith, which has done so much over the centuries to shape the world — including in my own country.”
From Obama’s statements on Islam as opposed to his antipathy for Christianity, it is clear, had the Declaration of Independence stated the Muslim “Allah”, rather than the Judeo-Christian “Creator”, the president would not have omitted the name. Obama is the first president that holds such contempt for the beliefs and writings of this country’s Founders, who themselves did not believe the First Amendment was established to effect any form of religious pluralism. According to Supreme Court Justice Story in his Commentaries, “[t]he real object of the [First A]mendment was not to countenance, much less to advance, Mahometanism, or Judaism, or infidelity, by prostrating Christianity; but to exclude all rivalry among Christian sects.” We need to put God first as our Founders did.
1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper (emphasis added).
II Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Unless our leaders put God first, as our Founders had intended, we will continue to suffer as a nation. Our leaders should be examples of what Psalm 1 states, with prosperity as a gift from God as our reward for following the Word. Wherever God is mentioned in our founding documents, His name must remain.
